if you've got a target in your area (i think they're us only now after being stomped in canada), watch their sims section and ads. they put season on sale for 50% off like a week or two after it came out and they often have sales (usually 50% off) on their sims selection.
i was hoping for a deal on gamepacks, but, no deal, so i went and bought graveyard keeper instead, lol.
