I've decided to look at how nasty Chased by Death trait is. It really makes deaths more likely to happen to sims.
Now with deaths, this trait has two stages: pre-warning and post-warning. If your sim first has near-death experience, they'll get a warning. After that, post-warning state lasts for 3 days, making deaths much more likely to happen.
So let's see how each of these deaths can happen! I'll go by packs the death was introduced in (so Vending Machine is in Snowy Escape etc).
- Base Game
- Old Age - Doesn't seem to be affected.
- Starvation - Doesn't seem to be affected.
- Fire - Death arrives to the burning sim faster post-warning stage. Will give a warning the first time.
- Drowning - The tuning files say nothing here. I had my sim pulled underwater.
- Electrocution - Sims have a higher chance of getting electrocuted. In the post-warning phase, they don't need the electrocution dazed moodlet for the death to happen. Pre-warning sims easily get electrocuted and warned.
- Overexertion - Doesn't seem to be affected.
- Cowplant - Pre-warning sims get a warning. Post-warning sim don't need the Drained moodlet to die.
- Emotions (Laughter, Anger & Embarrassment) - Doesn't seem to be affected.
- Meteorite - If the sim discovers a meteorite heading towards them, they have less time to get indoors. Much less in post-warning phase. The chance of discovering one isn't affected.
- Spa Day
- Steam - Sims need to spend less time in sauna to die. Much less in the post-warning phase.
- City Living
- Pufferfish - Sims have a higher chance to die by eating Pufferfish Nigiri. Post-Warning sims can even die from excellent Pufferfish Nigiri! Pre-warning sims get a warning.
- Vampires
- Sunlight - Doesn't seem to be affected.
- Jungle Adventure
- Poisoning - Poisoning moodlets decay faster. Much faster in the post-warning phase.
- My First Pet Stuff
- Rabid Rodent Fever - The disease progresses faster. Much faster in the post-warning phase.
- Seasons
- Freezing - Post-warning sims freeze 3 times faster.
- Overheating - Post-warning sims overheat 3 times faster.
- Lightning - Pre-warning sims will never get hypercharged, but will get a warning. Post-warning sims even seem to attract lightning.
- Flowers - Is not affected at all.
- StrangerVille
- Mother Plant - Doesn't seem to be affected.
- Realm of Magic
- Spellcaster Overload - Warning given to pre-warning sims. Post-warning sims always die.
- Tiny Living Stuff
- Murphy Bed - Sims have 3 times more chance of it failing. When it fails, pre-warning sims may get a warning (may because it can randomly kill any sim). Post-warning sims are more likely to die by it.
- Eco Lifestyle
- Flies - Interesting... According to tuning files, this doesn't seem to be affected. However, my sim died the second try. So... I'm confused... It just a coincidence then, which is disappointing.
- Snowy Escape
- Vending Machine - If a vending machine falls on sim, in the pre-warning phase, the sim will immediately get stage 2 injury moodlet and a warning. In the post-warning phase, the sim dies even if they don't have any injuries.
- Falling - Doesn't seem to be affected.
- Cottage Living
- Rabbit - Pre-warning sims get a warning, post-warning sims always die even without getting the first rabbit attack moodlet.
- Chicken - Pre-warning sims get a warning, post-warning sims will always die even without getting the first chicken attack moodlet. Any chicken will have equally guaranteed chance to kill.
- High School Years
- Stink Capsule - Pre-warning sims get a warning, post-warning sims have a chance to die even without the Dazed moodlet that comes after an failed attempt.
- Urban Myth - Pre-warning sims get a warning, post-warning sims will die if they fail. Vampires are still immune to this death though.
- For Rent
- Mold - Toxic Mold accumulates in the sim faster, decays on its own slower. It's faster in the post-warning phase.
- Lovestruck
- Heartbreak - Doesn't seem to be affected.
- Life & Death
- Crows - Each provocation will make the crow instantly very angry. Pre-warning sims get a warning, post-warning sims will die even without a warning moodlet.
So yeah, Chased by Death trait increases the chance of 20 out of 33 deaths happening.
That is disappointing for the following: Heartbreak, Falling, Mother Plant, Emotions, and Drowning (caused by Get Famous's water gardens or Ocean Threats)...
Still, a nasty trait.
Awesome. Thank you for this!
