A question about dogs with the adventurous trait.

My adventurous dog never leaves the house unless my sim goes on an adventure with her. I assumed it was working as intended but if the wording is as you say (I don't remember) then it would seem they should occasionally leave the house. My cat who has the free spirit trait leaves the house all the time and has come back pregnant at least 3 of those times. Adventurous sounds like it's almost the same thing but for dogs.
