Alien/Mermaid Hybrids

Question

I have a household with an alien father and mermaid mother. Now that the daughter aged up to a teen, she is glitchy in CAS. She has both alien and mermaid traits. When I see her in her mermaid form in CAS, her head floats over an empty space with the tail under, so it looks like her head is floating. I also can't get her to look like her mermaid self while playing unless she is swimming. Her alien form and disguised alien forms seem fine in both CAS and live mode, but her mermaid form is gorgeous, so I'd rather play her looking like that. FYI, her mermaid form has her lavender alien skin tone.

I thought I remembered seeing a post a long time ago about how to correct hybrid glitches but couldn't find the post. Can anyone help?

There is a mod out there that helps stabilise hybrid glitches.  I had a family of alien/mermaid hybrids and used that mod, which helped a lot, but eventually I cheated and made them all full mermaids.

@CaprianaB - It’s this one. It meant that the kids could have both an alien form and a human one, plus the mermaid tail. There may still have been times when the teens aged up with half their body missing but I think all I had to do was change the type of tail in CAS and it was right again.

Changing them to full mermaids was a built-in cheat. If you do Ctrl-Alt-C, then type in testingcheats on, then type traits.remove_trait trait_OccultAlien. That should leave just the mermaid traits behind. It’s been a while since I did this so hopefully that works. When they became simply mermaids, they kept whatever their human disguise was, not their alien skin, but that should be able to be fixed in CAS is you want lavender skin :)

What I did without cheats was create a half-alien and half-human sim then I made him eat mermadic kelp.

He doesn't have Alien Abilities, but he can perform the Alien Secret handshake. He has the Alien skin tones in his merman form, and he has the Alien ears. His eyes aren't Alien eyes, but merfolk have Alien looking eyes.

My main merfolk household is actually a full house specifically because of this cheat. I don't want to risk an Alien Pregnancy that glitches.

I'm also interested in learning how you made them full mermaids. I would be willing to try that and just give her the lavender skin, because I really like that feature.
