Same thing is happening to my vamps. I can understand it on an emotional level (if I could turn into a bat, obviously I'd use bat form to pop out to the fridge or the loo, just to show off, because hahaha look at me guys, I'm a plummin' BAT), but as a gameplay mechaninc it gets old fast...
