Annoying vampire bat and mist form

Now that you mention it, @MissNightOwl I'm not even sure it's because of the update. 'Cause I remember it happening waaaay before the C&D patch, with a different family I was playing. And I usually only play one family per save, I don't tend to switch, and even then most of the time I turned the auto-transform option off, the next time I loaded the game there they were, fluttering about like lunatics. Sigh. I usually don't even pick up the ability any more, even though I find it really cute (bats are cute, lovey-dovey vampies bat-Woohooing are even cuter), just because I can't keep track of whether it's on or off and it's just a hassle.
