Any Idea?

Are the objects themselves bugged somehow. Have you perhaps tried selling them and replacing them?

One thing could be a routing error. It's where your sim can't reach whatever. The main cause for this is when the move objects cheat has been used. Go into build mode and take the item your sim is not going to and see if you get red instead of green. Red means something is overlapping, and it won't go into that spot. Move the item to where it shows green and set it down. Then go into play mode and see if your sim can reach the item. There are quite a few lots in the gallery where the creator has used the move object cheats, and not check for routing errors.

Yeah that's not it either, they'd both used items prior.

I had a similar issue the other day. I had my sim try to use a computer at a venue for her writing career and she pretty much wouldn’t go to any computer in the joint. So I brought her back home and I placed a computer in her apt and she started writing. Try taking the programmer to a library or cafe with access to computers and see if he will get on the computer, that will maybe give you a better indication of what the problem is.
