1. They can’t use the simlish language or use the Sims name because those things are owned by EA.
2. They would have to compete with EA and EA wouldn’t give up very easily but attempt to fight back if somebody tried.
As long as the Sims games are selling well EA sure isn’t interested in selling the rights to another company and without those rights I don’t think that any company ever will try to make such a huge game in competition with EA because they would lose way too much money if such an attack on EA failed.
EA needs a competitor, that is why they have gotten away with loot boxing and breaking up content.
Secondly...I never said EA would relinquish the rights to The Sims.... They didn't give up the rights to Sim City... and we still got City Skylines. Boom! instant competition.
You can't tell me that there aren't other talented game developers out there that can create an entirely new Sim Like Life Simulator game. It doesn't have to be called The Sims to be competitive, and it certainly doesn't have to have Simlish.
Believe me when I say there are other gaming companies out there with eyes and ears to the community...Listening to what the masses are asking for...what they desire to have in their very personal gaming experience... Unlike EA, who has fallen out of touch with the fan base, who doesn't listen or read any of the suggestion given on this forum, or the thousands of requests to fix bugs and broken gaming issues.
I don't care what the game would be called or what language they speak... As long as it's a well fleshed out base game, updated, Fully loaded with content and gameplay.... then EA can continue to breakup content for TS4 all it's wants...because it won't matter if someone else cares enough to listen and deliver what we asked for and not be ripped off everytime new content is created.
I agree with that other game companies could make similar games. No doubt about it.
But you can’t just compare the big Sims games with SimCity and Skylines. Those games aren’t based on the idea to make a very expensive basegame with a special game engine which it takes years to make and then get all the money back just by using this game engines ability to make a huge number of packs very cheaply.
The problem for other big game companies isn’t that they couldn’t make such a game too because of course they could. But their problem is that they can’t be sure to be able to beat EA’s version. EA would almost certainly fight back by making more attractive packs just to fight off the competitor. This would of course be a dream for all us simmers. But the other game company would risk a fortune if EA was able to fight them off and keep the market anyway. The other company could then even be close to going bankrupt. So therefore no other game company has until now had the courage to attempt it.
