- I love having unexpected and bad things happen to my sim and having them adapt. I don't adapt well to changes IRL and because of Sims 2, I've learned some different ways to persevere through my sim getting fired through a chance card, or even being promoted. I love having unexpected difficulty in the game. I don't want total control I want unexpected to happen, I want to be surprised have weird little twists to add to my sims stories. But I don't usually play to make stories; I play to get inspired!
- I would prefer it if they did more on their own, but mine only seem to do push-ups, play on the computer, or break out the violin at weird moments. Like, sure, you're about to wee yourself, but okay, do some more push-ups.
- unfortunately my sims are very bad at taking care of themselfes, if I don't guide everyone to the bathroom fast enough they pee themselfs or they don't go to sleep when tired...seriously something is wrong with autonomy....
- MDianaSimsSeasoned HotshotAutonomy is off by default in my game. I don't trust my sims enough to have them take care of themselves.
- They are good enough in getting their will even with autonomy off, no reason to give them even more of that.
Like yesterday when I wanted to adopt a cat with a single sim. Out of the three candidates one acted like "Yay, I live here now!". It was so natural that I felt I didn't have a choice at all, it was to be this tom or none. So even though I'm at the controls all the time, my sims and townies do get a lot of input as to where our story will go. - I find that whenever I try to make important decisions for my sims (like picking a spouse) it always seems to backfire and my sims are miserable LOL. So now I try to see who they're interested in, watch them for hints about what they like to do, and I let them direct their own lives. I build their stories around them, trying to make their crazy lives somewhat logical.
- My sims often make bad decisions, they lose their freedom and then I make their dreams come true
- SharoooniaNew SpectatorWhen it comes to marriage, careers and having babies I want to be in full control of how and when those things happen so in that sense I don't really like any story progression to happen in my game without my involvement. Other things though like just going through daily life I let them have autonomy most of the time. If they want to play violin badly in the middle of the street in the rain then so be it, whatever keeps them happy. I couldn't play with autonomy turned off. It keeps the game interesting for me and I like to see what they will choose to do next.
- Autonomy is on high, but I rarely let them do everything on their own. For the most part, they are fine at it. They take care of whatever need starts hitting yellow. But I put a nice variety of activities into their houses and all they want to do is play on the computer or watch TV. My favorite part of Sims is the interactions between them and working on their skills. I love seeing the kids go on auto and ask a parent for advice, though~
I'm also not good at sitting back and watching anything, be it Sims or a movie. I need to do something. So I micro-manage. But at least I'm a good Goddess to them. I try to give them good lives. Only one has died by accident so far, in 3. Ate the wrong jellybean. - I enjoy watching them caring for themselfs from time to time and most of them are quite capable.
