Yes. I wouldn't have bought the game Sims4 had I not seen that it was safely moddable. For example, I watched a friend playing Sims 1? back in 2000?? and it was so stupid looking. You pee/poop, eat, work, clean, die. Not my idea of a fun game. Sims4 vanilla, not quite as bad, but at least those annoying things can be toned down with mods. Plus more things added that expand on playing the game as a game! (Not a real-life simulator) This is my opinion.
Ironically, because it was safely moddable, (actually built into the programing), and enjoying it at first, I ended up buying most of the packs over time. Seriously if it takes 4 hours in-game to drink a glass of water and eat a salad, then another 4 hours to pee/pooop, bathe, 8 hours "work/school", and then 8 hours to sleep... bleh...
Lather, rinse, repeat. Lather, rinse, repeat. Lather, rinse, repeat.
Important parts of the game, I know, just ridiculous without mods. Of course I don't like "God-mode" either.
When I load after mods disabled and play for a bit, yes I would probably give up on the game and not come back.
To be afraid of mods? No there is no reason to be. If one stops working, it's easy to just delete it. Same with any CC clothing or whatever.
The modders overall are quite excellent. And I have to say, the EA/Maxis programmers are also quite excellent.
