I'm gonna buy it. I don't understand why people are complaining about something that really shouldn't have that big of an impact on their lives.
Just because you don't like something doesn't mean it gives you the right to be hostile. You're allowed to feel whatever way you're feeling about this pack but you probably shouldn't project your anger on the people who have worked on this pack because after all, they are real people (and also, if you're angry about a sims expansion, maybe you should re-evaluate your priorities). I'm not saying you're not allowed to express your opinion because you definitely are. But I think it should be common sense to express your opinion in a constructive way. Seeing the gurus receive hate for something like this is incredibly saddening because it's not like they did anything wrong with this pack. It's just not everyone's cup of tea and that's totally fine. Getting mad about an expansion pack kinda makes you come off as entitled. You can't always get what you want which shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone and the gurus can't always please everyone in the community which they're probably very much aware of at this point.
Also, people definitely shouldn't get angry at the game changers for having a positive opinion about the pack. Yes, they get the packs for free so they don't have to spend the 40€ on it but that doesn't make their opinion any less valuable than yours. Some people might focus more on giving positive feedback because maybe they're just ''the glass is half full'' kinda people. Not everyone feels negative about things that you might feel negatively about and it doesn't mean that person is getting a check for their opinion. Saying their opinion is positive just because they get the pack for free just makes you sound bitter and jealous.
Some people are complaining because ''there are so many other things missing from the game''. Yes, that's true but that doesn't mean they only have to focus on bringing us those things. Just because they're giving us this pack now doesn't mean they're never gonna deliver the things the community would like to have. I think they're very much aware that making cars and better babies etc would make them a lot more money than trying out something a little different. Experimental packs make me much more intrigued because it gives you a new way to experience the game. Strangerville was clearly more of an experimental pack. There was no way for them to know how much money it would end up making them because it was a new concept but that makes it more of a passion project instead of a cash grab. They must've known this pack wouldn't be for everyone but they made it anyway because there were people on the team who wanted to make it happen.
In the end, you are the one who decides how you're gonna spend your own money. You don't wanna pay 40€ for this pack? Great. Then don't spend it. That's your right. No-one is forcing you to buy every pack.
Maybe try having an open mind (:

I personally think it would've been better as a game pack than an expansion pack. The meat scraping thing was kinda off-putting for me but other than that I don't have any strong opinions about this pack. Sorry this rant was kinda all over the place :'D
