At what point do you break up a couple?

I prefer not to break up marriages if possible.
Sims 2 my marker was when they would keep fighting, happened more often after nightlife.
Sims 3 my first divorce happened between a family oriented couple. I was not playing them but my attempt to save there marriage resulted in a break up. Also broke up the Wolff marriage in sunset valley, was not the plan but was the result.
Sims 4 only marriage break up I have been involved with is the Fengs, my Sim fell in love with Victor Feng.
