At what point do you break up a couple?

I just split up a married couple when I realized that they had stopped talking and were going out of their way to avoid each other.
At first, I thought it was my imagination but as I started to watch them, I realized that something was definitely wrong. The only time they interacted with each other was when their Social meter was yellow. Even then, I noticed that there'd be a quick hug followed by chatting just long enough to get Social back to green. They didn't dance to stereo music or watch TV like they used to. That's when they used to chat and flirt with each other. But now, I noticed that there was absolutely no romantic stuff happening, not even a simple flirt or blowing a kiss.
It looked to me like the wife was doing most of the avoidance. She'd be the one to leave the room when her husband came in to dance or watch TV. He'd be the one to come and hug her and chat for a bit before leaving her alone.
Neither one had a side romance going on. I have no idea what went wrong. They were still Soulmates and Best Friends, but they were obviously done with each other. It made me sad.
