Detaining the kids outside of school hours would meant that the teacher would have to get them home after, since the buses would have already left. And it would be illegal to prevent the child from going home.

Suspension and expulsion are the most extreme punishments.

If they don't stay home when they're sick, then their entire class should also end up sick too, and they receive messages saying 'thanks for sharing' and 'sharing is not caring'
