Bars, Lounges, and Nightclubs

From what I've observed:

• Sims will get juice in all of them.
  
• In bars Sims are more likely to socialise and watch tv. Or play bar games if you have packs that add them.
  
• In nightclubs Sims will most likely dance, especially if you have a DJ instead of a stereo.
  
• In lounges, live entertainment is the thing, so comedy, guitar, violin, etc. And if you have Get Famous, lounges are where celebrity related events usually take place.
  

Bars are simply that a bar where Sims can come to hook up, etc. (this can be done at all of them), bars are mostly plain, may have a jukebox. Nightclubs are more fancy and have entertainment and some dancing. Lounges have entertainment.

There isn't much difference. From what I understand a bar just needs a place to drink and has the specific bar social events (ghost night, etc.). Night clubs focus more on dancing; it might be sort of ingrained in Get Together since I have had it so long I don't really remember. Then the lounge, the one I give more of a pass because I get the alert for the stupid talent night from GF all the time for it specifically.

So they do use the lot types for certain specifics, but in practice it feels like a whole lot of nothing on my end. I don't know about just combining them at this point, but I'd like them to be more interesting to visit.

I do combine them when I build my own. I put it under nightclub so I can do it all except talent night (forgot about that in the lounges). I have one where I set up different areas, a cozy bar area, a band and dance floor area and then I have a basement for a seedy bar area.

There is also the karaoke bar and the bowling bar. I think the restaurants are also bars. I think the difference in them is the "entertainment" factor. In the bar, you drink and watch TV. There's knights, bear and ladies nights at the bars. The knight and bear nights are for cosplay dressing, ladies night means free drinks at the bar and lots of ladies to meet. I usually send my sims to a lounge to practise their comedy and music skills. If you have more than one instrument and a stereo and a mike, it's possible that they will all be used at the same time, but the bar is the main attraction. In the nightclub sims love to dance if you have a DJ and will stay mostly on the dance floor and spend less time at the bar. You can dance in all of them if you add a stereo.

So can I put in a DJ booth or hire a DJ in a bar? I would like to try to condense as much as I can so I can eliminate some redundant lots. I don't really care about live entertainment but I like the idea of some of the "theme" nights (well just Happy Hour, Ladies Night, and Guys Night).

Also can I put in other things for sims to do? Like darts or a ping pong table, some of the game tables? And will they actually use them?

I have all of the packs except for SW. But, I have no interest in a celebrity career so I don't care about not having them perform.

I'm assuming I could put everything on one lot and just change it's lot type if I wanted some live performance, like Karaoke?

Sims are more likely to play games of any kind when the lot type is a bar. I always use bar for bowling alleys.
I think you will only get an npc DJ to show up for the booth of the lot type is nightclub.
All three types, plus karaoke bar, will have a bartender.
I don't think Sims will autonomously do karaoke if the lot type is not karaoke bar.

Well, yes, you can add anything you want on a lot, it's just that some of the objects won't be used autonomously. If you put a DJ booth in a bar, don't know if it will summon a DJ automatically, or you'll need to hire your own. But sims will dance just about anywhere there is music, I have a jukebox in a restaurant and the sims dance to it if it's on. Regarding games, I think you'll need to get the sims to play them.

Bars are for young adults/adults, lounges for adults/elders. Nightclubs are for everyone. Even kids call my kids to ditch school and go to nightclub.
