I don't see how I can make plan regarding the pack. We know next to nothing about it. We have zero information on how it affects the rest of the game. We know it is at least somewhat story based and there are factions, but that is not saying anything about actual game play. Lightsabers are cool but are they actually useful? Some for the droids. I guess we know it is a destination world. I barely use the destination worlds we have now. Face it we know basically nothing beyond the theme.
We know there will be CAS and build mode items. We know somewhere in there will be the stuff to make people look like aliens, but I'd guess it's probably just costume parts, and maybe even hidden so we'll need mods or cheats to unlock them. We know we'll get lightsabers and can have duels, but I think it's highly unlikely that this GP will be the one that for the first time lets our sims murder and maim each other. They're definitely not sneaking in the ability to have sims with missing limbs; that would be a massive undertaking. There's also nothing in the ad copy saying that we'll get to learn the Force, so I assume that won't be in the pack--game packs that haven't been completely mundane have had either quests or new life states, not both. We'll get droids, but it seems like off of Batuu they're going to be more like drones or toys than useful companions.
But that's still a lot.
Between CAS and build buy, creative use of stuff that's already in the game, cheats, mods, and some CC--I spent the past hour hunting down some medieval and fantasy CC clothing that seems like it could fit in Star Wars, because I'm sure the GP won't have as much variety as I'd like--I'm sure it'll be possible to make a pretty interesting Star Wars-themed save."Scobre;c-17636305" wrote:
Doctor Who, Star Trek, and Firefly stories. I love Sci-fi. I think I may do my own take on some Twilight Zone stories too.
I'm already planning out what I want to do with various characters. I'm probably not going to pre-order so my various mods and cheats can have a couple of days to update for the new pack (I always get caught having to autodownload the new patch to play and then my cheats might not work; I need to remember to go into offline mode a few days before). That'll give me time to find out from people who started playing immediately whether kids can do the quest stuff and use lightsabers or only teens and up.
For regular play, I'll probably just use my pre-existing saves and treat Batuu as a vacation destination or maybe do a "Last Starfighter" scenario where one of my sims is chosen to be the champion of the Resistance. But for a full Star Wars save, whether children can do all the things determines whether I'll put my sim-self in as a child or teen, and that'll determine what the rest of my family will be like. And if I'm in as a teen, I'll probably also include my friends and their families from that time.
But the rest of the worlds are probably going to be either EA households that I like too much to get rid of and I'll just move them around and put them in Star Wars clothes, or characters from TV and movies. The characters from Firefly, I'll probably divide up into multiple households. Farscape I might not be able to do the more alien characters, but I should be able to make John, Aeryn, Chiana, and Zhaan. I don't think we're getting Jedi powers in the pack, so I'll have to stick with spellcasters as Jedi for the time being, but I'll make a Jedi temple that has the Hogwarts kids in it. I can put in Star Wars versions of multiple characters from the MCU, or other Disney movies. And I can make mundane families in the Star Wars universe, too: John and Martha Kent can have a moisture farm on Tatooine (and, hey, there's a use for Eco Lifestyle: set up a ton of water collectors and sell the excess and it's a moisture farm), where they're raising an orphaned alien baby. Arnold (Pat Morita) from Happy Days can run a '50s style diner on Coruscant (San Myshuno) and I'll say it's Dexter Jettster's old place under new management. The friends from Friends and Jerry and his friends from Seinfeld can all live in Coruscant, and so can Fran Fine from The Nanny. I'll just change their clothes, Star Wars up their names a bit, and run with it.
That sounds like so much fun. I love Happy Days and the Nanny. That is a good idea doing Marvel stories with it too. I might try some DC stories too.
