I haven't actually measured the time, but yes, I think there is a difference. When I've managed to afford 10 energy beds, the sleep cycle seems to go so, so fast. A couple sim hours will have them rested enough to get back to dong stuff. But, that being said, 8 is still really good, so I wouldn't stress it if that's what's affordable for your sims right now :)
