Best Friends Spam Overload?

This is getting ridiculous. Constantly having Sims autonomously wanting to be best friends. Is there a way to shut that off? Or at least tone it down?

Said "Hello" to the caterer, then suddenly he wants to be best friends. "What? No way! I don't even know you!". :grimace: :p :D

I haven't had this (don't have HSY or Growing Together yet, though, so probably because of that) but I'm just picturing a Sim stepping outside to grab their mail and hearing some sound from a distance, which gradually gets closer and louder until that Paparazzi song is just deafening them as every Sim in the entire game begs to be BFFS and get married and live together.... all while the Sim has existed for a day and never met anyone.....

Does anyone know how to turn off the basegame NPC relationship autonomy?

It doesn't shut it off for you (played) Sim(s) from NPC to played Sim. Only for NPC to NPC.

Bienchen's mod works perfectly. Could even leave on the HSY (Vanilla) npc to npc relations switch in options if wanted. Though you'll most likely end up with every NPC best friends and BF/GF, engaged, etc...
