Better set up for premade families stories

The stories they have envisioned for the premade households are incompatible with what the simulation can provide. Classic case of the developers using their imagination to create a story instead of using the game. Their premade households have been bad a for awhile, but the premades in Sims 4 are hands down the worst they have ever made. Like you said they all wind up being nothing like their description/story, and that’s a major problem. At least in previous games they would build a back story that the actual game could play out. Now it’s just some producers imagination running wild and stereotypical sims being thrust into a generic world where everyone acts the same way.

I completely agree. I used to love the stories and backgrounds from the sims 3. Unfortunately this has been going on since the end of sims 3. In Island Paradise a lot of the premade families weren't even related to each other even if it said they were in the family description. There was also a family in Midnight Hollow that was based off of the siblings in A Series of Unfortunate Events that weren't related either. Even thought the description clearly said they were brother and sister. They never fixed any of it. Its like they got tired of setting up the families to match the stories that they had given them and it just continued in to the sims 4.

Same. I loved the stories in 2. I didn't play premades as much in 3, but I remember there being stories that existed. But 4...none of them really brought me into the story, so I haven't played them. There isn't any overarching neighborhood story, which I miss, along with the family stories that were also part of it . There aren't any incriminating photos or memories. It's harder to tell a story in 4, and I miss uncovering things like I could in 2. It's probably what I miss the most.

As a side note, I've recreated pleasantview in newcrest to replay the drama and it's immensely entertaining. I even rebuilt their houses, in all their early 2000s Sims 2 interior design glory.

I completely agree. The story behind the Goths with Bella's disappearance and Olive Specter being a murderous widow with a son from the Grim Reaper were my favorite, and the Broke family was interesting as well. There's a youtuber called Chrillsims3 that does very entertaining and interesting videos on theories and mysteries, and he's even managed to do quite a few for the Sims 4 despite their lack of stories.

@luxsylvan Actually have the pleasants in a save of mine and rebuilt their home as well actually right next to the goth's home. Though I updated the look just a bit at least not having those gaudy green kitchen counters.
@fruitbasket47 Wow, that's sad. :neutral: I really don't want them to just be kicking premades to the curb and they're only good for looks and being promoted in trailers.
@PlayerSinger2010 2 was definitely a big favorite of mine in terms of story telling and curious to go into premade lots and seeing a few pop ups setting up the story and suggesting to the player what you could do.

Felt like Sims 2 was way more imersive in story telling for premades which made things interesting, especially when you took a look at some of the isms memories to the photos from events that happened in their life. It makes it all so interesting. Some of the premade stories are pretty interesting with the summary, but there's not much else past that.

Much like Judith Ward from the GF pack it mentioned she's been married at least several times? But, there's not really anything in her simology tree saying otherwise. Her home shows a his and her's look like half the house decorated in her own style with the others obviously in a male's possibly her last husband and they pretty much lived almost separately from one another and possibly just over how to decorate the house. I'd just like a bit more depth and set up for premades that makes me want to learn more about their family and theorize.

I agree wholeheartedly.

They probably create the sims in CAS and then just place them, not play with them at all, so their backstories often dont match with how they live and what relationships they have.

I have always found it amusing that Johny Zest are supposed to be related to the Landgraabs, but he is not so he could easily romance his "mother" in the game.

If you mean this family, they are related.

@JoAnne65 Hmm... that's really strange. I've uninstalled and reinstalled that world many times since release, don't play with mods or any cc, and that particular family has never been related in my game. I wasn't the only one who had this problem either, if i'm remembering correctly. Maybe it was only happening in some peoples game? Maybe they fixed it and I just didn't notice. The families in Island Paradise are still messed up though.
