I understand what you mean about using Sims to escape from real life, I live in the middle of a busy city, so these things you mentioned would be wonderful escapism for me.
There are quite a few threads speculating about what was meant by "bond with nature", because really we don't know. I'm trying to reserve judgment until I know what the new packs are. Even then, it may not be something I like (I also have a list of packs I don't wish to buy), but that doesn't mean there aren't players who do want it and are excited.
Also, I don't think everything in TS4 has been brand new? City Living for example, and Cats and Dogs, and Seasons weren't brand new? I think it's equally important to bring back "fan favourites" as it is to be innovative and try new things though.
