I don't know about all the police drama, as I don't have that mod, but as for the bring the cake out, I'd make sure there is NOTHING on the table, not even a center piece. I went to a restaurant and told them like 5 times to bring the cake out and it never came, and when I next went into my family inventory, found 5 cakes sitting there. They pull the cake from their pocket and place it on the table. If there is no where for it to go, they'll put it in the family inventory.
