Bulldoze lot or just use the hammer?

So I want to get rid of a lot/house that I built and put a different one down. Should I just bulldoze it or use the hammer? I find that every time I bulldoze a lot the lines of where the house was is left behind which makes the lot look ugly! Do those lines ever disappear? Or should I just use the sledgehammer?
