By what I've seen I can't but agree with you OP."simgirl1010;c-16347467" wrote:
So what you're saying is you won't be getting it?
Please don't derail the subject of the topic?
Sorry, I apologise for that but I just feel that after 3 years it should be pretty obvious that you're not going to encounter any real danger in the Sims 4. I never considered them as traps. More like puzzles.
Its not so much about danger, it's about surprise. About the actual meaning of the word trap. When I google the word trap, it says things like “a situation in which people lie in wait to make a surprise attack”, and “a trick by which someone is misled into acting contrary to their interests or intentions“. No matter what you think about the pack in general (I still am planning to buy it), the traps aren’t traps in that meaning of the word. No surprise, no lying in waiting, no trick, no misleading. And the traps the way I saw them aren't puzzles either. A puzzle means: "a game or toy in which you have to fit separate pieces together, or a problem or question that you have to answer by using your skill or knowledge". The 'traps' in this game don't give you that, they rather have a tombola principle. There's no logic, just luck.
For me it's not enough to not buy the pack, I'm still curious and I hope it has other elements that will be fun. But for me it was a disappointment.

I haven't watched any of the videos so I don't know how the traps are shown in this GP but I remember the traps being pretty visible in WA, as well. At least I never had problems seeing them. I seem to recall it was more a matter of whether your Sim would trigger a trap or not and, in some cases, what would happen when something was triggered that made it more exciting.
In playing mode they often were completely invisible so no, you couldn't see them. You can when you hover over them, but there are enough situations where you forget and your sim catches fire. You get them out of there quickly, after which they run into another one, catching fire again. That's a trap system.
I liked the gas 'trap', but why on earth should my sim fall into that trap other than me clicking on it and say: "Step into this trap." That's not a trap because you know what's coming.
Someone said simmers don't want to pull their hair out over a puzzle in The Sims. I don't disagree with that, but I think no hairs were harmed ever while solving a WA puzzle. They are quite mellow, easy to solve. Enough to bring the player into some kind of trance going from one to the other. I play app games with much harder puzzles. But still there is this element of having to look around, think for a bit an make the right moves. Simmers wouldn't want real danger or death in their games. They don't? One word: ladder. Every simmer will understand what I mean by that. Not every simmer will like danger or death, but then again, not every simmer likes laundry either. And if you add a good puzzle to the game the player has enough chances to make their sims survive.

Sounds like a decent vacation pack then doesn't it? Sims kids can experience archeology with their families without worrying they will be charcoal fodder during a nice family vacation for a change.
As much as I love WA - it was no mecca for family oriented travellers to say the least - so yeah - makes me want it even more for the family aspects and culture - and a just plain fun vacation place for a change with fun things to do and see, and learn. Also sounds like a great Honeymoon place.
Can't wait to get this pack.
It's called Jungle Adventure, not Jungle Vacation for the kids or Jungle Honeymoon. I appreciate you love the idea and can't wait, but that's no argument for those who seek something else in an adventure pack with a temple with traps.
