[Discussion] Trait Combinations, Lifestyles & Item/Object Pairing Investigation
Every once in a while I see on the EA forums or Reddit there is a Trait Combinations thread. May it be what is your favourite, what is the most chaotic and what is the best. But most of the times I see one of a few things end up being the conclusion, 1: is that traits play no real part or no real difference in the game, 2: people choose randomized and stick with it, or 3: they opt out of the most detested traits. As I have only been playing Sims 4 since L&D aka earlier this year, I haven't really had a chance to have these conversations and I just look up old zombie threads most of which do not have much on the new traits. So I propose a small community collaboration project reporting findings on certain trait combinations with or without Lifestyle or item/object support. Anyone can report findings! To make this easier to report/review let's use a response format: Traits: <list traits used here, feel free to include occult type, reward, aspiration, etc. traits> Lifestyles/Ideals: <if used, by cheats or earning properly> Items/Objects: <list of items on Sim or objects place for Sim to help encourage trait synergy> Plan: <what you think or hope will happen> Results: <what actually happened> Rating: <out of 10 how did the combination fair?> Conclusion: <Any additional thoughts>1.3KViews6likes15CommentsHow do you make peace with the randomly generated sims?
I have realised that the reason I can't move beyond about 3 generations in any legacy is that I actually spend hours more on making over the randomly generated sims, and also making over the randomly generated outfits when unplayed premades age-up, than I do actually in game play. Yes, it is a me problem that I can't make peace with the, let's face it, clowns the game randomly generates to fill NPC roles, etc. I don't even let my sims visit bars anymore because they generate thousands of "bar regulars". So far, my coping techniques have been mods, but I still find these are hit-or-miss (especially since career outfits don't retain the hairstyle from the makeover). I need advice then, from people who are able to continue to play (particularly long legacies) despite the state of the randomly generated 'clowns' the game creates after the original premades die off. How do you just remain unbothered? I really want to do a legacy challenge, but this petty irritation keeps me from getting interested in multi-generational saves.757Views6likes25CommentsQ&A: Royalty & Legacy
#AD (just in case this counts as social media) I was invited to join the CFE (not final build) opportunity for The Sims 4: Royalty & Legacy. Thank you to the EA Creator Network for this chance to answer questions for you about the pack! I will be taking and answering mainly questions about gameplay - Skills/Traits/Aspirations/Career/Venues/Systems/Collections/Lore - and anything else you guys want to know about! I did test with ALL PACKS in as I believe this is yet another pack with cross-compatibility possibilities related to the various systems. (Please Note: Testing with other packs in is unsupported before regular Early Access, so may be extra buggy.) Testing was/will continue to be done on a mix of fresh CAS Sims and premades, to see lore and experience different levels if they are present. Format will be similar to past Q&As where I have links to each subject and add more info to each based on questions asked and as I discover things through gameplay. I can't start posting right away this time due to the embargo, but will be continuing to take notes/screenshots and will post info when I can. P.S. - I have a Creator Code, so if you find my Q&A useful you might consider it as an option at checkout. Using my code gives me a small commission (5% regularly, 7% during sales) and can even save you a little bit of money on TS4 DLC during sales (normally 5%). My code is EmmaVane. Just enter the code on the the payment screen where Promo Codes normally go. Thank you, EA for this opportunity. Now that the pack has been out a while, does anyone actually use custom venues? If so, what for? The few venues I have created (nursery, handiness workshop, cinema) have pretty much been failures after all the hassle of setting up the staff and the activities etc. It seems like a lot of work for no payback. When the pack first came out I was expecting custom venues to be a fantastic game changer. I would be interested to hear of anyone's successes (or failures!)248Views0likes6CommentsTwo Police Chiefs?
My sim was promoted to police chief and I decided to follow him to work to see what it's like. The former police chief is still there. Shouldn't this Sim be moved elsewhere/demoted? My sim can't use the chief's computer either unless I tell the chief to go away; this doesn't seem right. Haha. What gives? Thanks!2.6KViews2likes6CommentsThoughts on For Rent and Business & Hobbies and their Issues
So I never bought For Rent because I was warned about the myriad of issues, and I was on a break from the game when Business & Hobbies came out, and though it interested me—I heard it too had some issues too, and thought I just wait for a decent discount. But I was reading there is a bit of focus on save corruption with specific mentions of FR: We’re also tracking any potential links to specific expansion packs or objects, though corruption reports predate packs like The Sims 4 For Rent. Instances of corruption existed before the release of For Rent, and our investigations into individual packs remain a top priority. So if this gets resolved within this time they claim to be catching up on issues during this "break", is that the biggest issue with this pack, or is it still not safe to buy? And with B&H I was thinking of waiting till 50% off, which may or may not be around Black Friday/Cyber Monday or even end of the year sale, are the issues of that alright enough to deal with at discount, or should I wait longer and/or for specific fixes?Solved476Views3likes12CommentsConstant notifications for likes/dislikes?
I'm a bit confused. My sim went to the gym and was working out and every single second I would get a notification for each townie asking if I wanted them to like/dislike rock-climbing or fitness. I'm so confused shouldn't' the pop ups only come for your active household? Why do I need to make a decision for every single sim in my world????? I want to sit down relax and play I don't want to micro manage every fricken sim in the world. Is this a bug??2.1KViews1like22CommentsIn defense of NordHaven
There are some simmers who seem upset that the world is European and want an African world. I am not against wanting more non-western or European worlds. I also not against simmers who requested it.I feel like a few things get overlooked. The world is diverse. The last four worlds that were Sims 4 are as well. As in, they are worlds that we never have represented in Sims 4. Evan the American world ChestnutRidge was base on Arizona and a representative of a ranch culuture. That was not shown in Sims 4 before. The European worlds were based in Romania and the newer one is Nordhaven is base on Sweden.I think one thing that gets over look .Is that United States and Europe are big places. That has a lot places that underepersentated as well. Non-western worlds take time and effort.I feel like this gets overlook. But the sims team has to make sure to represent a world properly. They have to pick a pack that can fit that setting and won't overshadow the world. That also have gameplay and settings that represent the world properly. They have to do extensive reaseach.Especially if the continent and country is far way. That has different culuture.1.9KViews13likes32Comments
