No one here is advocating to rob anyone of the game they like. They are asking for choices so they can play for fun too without physical harm. I really think that the devs are more than talented enough to deal with this sensibly without affecting others. This isn't just a case of 'I don't like the UI change it now' it's a case that some of these simmers can't play TS4 without physical harm.
It's disappointing there's not more support for them. A 'that's awful, I'm so sorry, hey devs could we provide options so these simmers can play comfortably too?'
I read the OP and nowhere it talks about choices, unlike me, who did talk about choices in the original post of my related thread.
Great, so go comment on your "related thread." Since it seems to be a direct rebuttal to this one, it seems like that would be the appropriate place for such comments. The OP is stating that people are having physical reactions to the UI/loading screens and that it should be addressed. There isn't even a hint of "plum off if you like the UI." It has been said before that liking or disliking the UI is a different topic. And you made one. Alternately, you could point out (in a kind, sympathetic way) that you'd like choices, not a total re-do. There are ways to do that without sounding like you're dismissing the people who are having bigger problems than "the colors are pretty as they are."
Try not to make this personal. I just like to see cooperation between everyone and not to and fro! It's really sad to see people taking positions like this and others having to defend themselves because of it.
Really what's wrong with offering my input while, at the, same time, from the very beginning, supporting choices?! That's what I genuinely want to know.
There has been no to and fro here, nobody is asking for not-options, as you've implied. They're asking for a solution to a problem. The to and fro comes when someone enters a thread and creates a conflict where there wasn't one.
I can illustrate. Someone simply saying, wow, the headaches don't sound so nice, it would be great to have color options so that people could choose which version of the UI suits them best, either aesthetically or to stop the headaches. <- acknowledges the problem, and states a solution that would solve it for everyone without downplaying the issue or making it "all about me and the colors I like"
Wording is important. And especially with a thread like this one, which addresses some very serious complaints - did you read all the replies? Some people have gotten migraines after playing ts4 when they've never had one before. Does that not seem like it might be a serious problem? Can you see how someone coming into the thread and saying, well, I don't have that problem so let's not change it because I like it, would come across as insensitive, if not totally petty? (Note, I said this is how it comes across, not how it was intended.)
Which is why I suggested staying in your thread.
The sentiments expressed in your thread are less likely to hit a sore spot because it's based on aesthetic preference and not painful health issues.
Having severe pain triggered by this UI and loading screens isn't a matter of opinion, and precisely zero people who are having these problems are going to agree with you that it should remain unchanged. So if you do decide to keep posting about it here, you are setting yourself up to be disagreed with. It doesn't seem like a very fruitful endeavor. I doubt anyone would object to having options, so there's really no point to suggesting that anyone has. So far, people who have asked for options have been met with more or less universal agreement, as long as it wasn't done over the voices of the people who are getting headaches. You can see, I hope, how that would feel very personal indeed - asking for accomodation for physical discomfort and having it written off or dismissed.
I, for one, haven't even been able to finish my bug testing, or even gotten to see my family tree, because the last time I loaded up the game it was so bright that I had to take a fistfull of pills and go back to bed. I'm glad some people like it, but in my opinion the fact that it's totally inaccessible for some people is a serious problem, and it would be even if I wasn't one of the people who suffered from it.
