My sim has only been abducted once so far, and through the science career he now has a machine that can shut them down or increase their frequency. You can cheat to get the invention from buy mode catalog if the career isn't appealing. Abductions aren't rampant in my game by any means, though.

You can send the baby back home immediately after it is born. :) They're super cute, though, so you may find yourself tempted to "keep" him/her!
