Can my author sim buy books she has published? I can't seem to find them.

I have figured out a way to keep books without a mod. Take the book from your sim's inventory and put it on a table. When you click on the book, you will have the option to "make a copy". Do that and another copy of the book shows up in your sim's inventory. Then put the original book back in your inventory and publish it as usual. The copy will stay in your inventory or you can put it on your bookshelf.

Instead of publishing one of my books Watson wrote called "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes' (lol) I put it in the bookcase it was no longer available for anyone to read.
  • Here I was reading this and didn't realize it was an old thread.. I always do 2 copies of the books my Sims write in case they lose one somewhere.. My thing is.. I wished you could re-order in case they lose completely and the other thing is, Since our Libraries now have a librarian.. would it be so cool if they made a librarian desk and you could submit your books to the Librarian to put in the shelves.. They could easily update those desks from the Police Station and the Medical to have functions within each of the venues to have tasks to do and make money selling drinks to the bar or even paintings to the museum..
  • somehow or another my sims had two copies of his book in his inventory, I forgot how to publish and do not remember what I did to get the second copy, he now has it and can read it. I remembered later that you click the mail box to publish. so I published his book, but still have the other copy in his inventory. Don't remember what I did to do this, but will check it out with his next book.
  • Another significant difference between SIm 3 and Sims 4. As a software engineer, I would think that you would start with a previous version of a software as the basis for designing the same feature in a new version of the software. But that so clearly did not happen with the Sims 4. :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(
  • I found a solution to this problem. After your sim writes a book, click on it and select "Create Copy". It will tell you how much that will cost you (it should be free in my opinion). Then when you publish the book you retain a copy for library. You may have to take out of your Sim's inventory... not sure on that.
  • Actually, you can't without a mod.

This thread will get closed for necroposting, but I don't want to leave it with misinformation. The best advice is still making a copy of the book before you publish it.
