Can you guess what happened here?

Here is a birdview of the basement of my new recycling plant where a fabricator just caught fire. The question is how did that happen?

The explanation is in this picture:

Hints:
- It's not a bug
Spoiler
Actually it really is a bug, only not a bug in the game, but an actual bug

- It couldn't happen in real life
- It could, however, happen a story or game, where certain aspects get exaggerated. Then it would make perfect sense.
- The blond sim it to blame

    Now that's a difficult one!

From hints, I'd guess a sim with low fabrication skill set it on fire.
But it seems impossible to me, mostly as this hasn't happened to me.

Is the neighborhood the fire happened in with Industrial eco footprint?

    More hints:
    - The reason for the fire is in the adjacent room.
    - The cause of the fire can pass through walls (in the game) or through doors (in reality)
    - The blond sim has a certain skill (not fabrication) and used a certain object (in the room he is in)
    - It probably makes more sense when one thinks of the fabricator fluid burning, not the machine

Hmm... Fabrication machines can't be the reason of fire then... The reason of fire is in the adjacent room, and the thing closest to it is a bug farm...

I'll guess Bombardier Beetles, because it requires a certain skill to farm (either cooking or mischief, both unlock it) and it's the closest to the fabricator (even though a wall separates them).

    @EgonVM
    Correct!

I had to give my sims a couple of insect farms for the aspiration goal to harvest insects three times. In the screenshot the sims just harvested their boxes, the fire must have started a spilt second before the harvest. The blonde sim is indeed the group's best cook, he introduced bombardier beetles and when their health is full, the little buggers roam around (one is is visible in the second screenshot, in the upper portion, a bit right of the middle). I had seen bettles pass through windows before, but apparently they can also pass through solid walls. That definitely was a first!
  • I should play with those insect farms more often. Now one of the workers set himself on fire from eating bombardier beetle stew:

(Not a real fire, just the surprise and blowing on the fire sfx effect, like when they burn themselves while litting the campfire.)
  • Oh, that's interesting! I need to play around with those bug objects :)
  • I tend to only use them in Castaway type settings, pretending my sims gather insects in the wild. They're free standing there, so less risk for the beetles to do set anything on fire.
  • I was stumped at first, too. Nobody was even using the fabricators when the fire started. Footprint is neutral.
