Okay so I don't know what's going on. I made a Sim and his Brother. One Sim had 2 kids and a wife, and now their relationships are all screwed up. I can't make my Sim the uncle to the children, only Brother, one of my kids has their Father listed as their brother. My Sim Uncle has his nieces and nephews listed as Roommates. WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON HERE! I love the game so far but holy crap that's annoying. Also when you get married her last name does not change. I hope these are all things fixed in the next update. Anyone else having this or similar problems?

Have you tried:1. Ctrl+Shift+C to bring up the cheat menu.2. Type "testingcheats true" and hit enter.3. Type "cas.fulleditmode" and hit enter.4. Shift+Click your Sim and choose edit in CAS.This can edit sims fully, including names. I imagine EA has a fix on the way for the marriage names thing, but in the meantime this workaround fixed it for me and my simmies. :3

I certainly did! I enter that code, go into CAS, and can edit literally everything else, BUT their relationships. It gives me the "cannot edit pre-existing relationships" every time and the option next to the sim you wanna alter is greyed out.

There doesn't seem to be a way to edit certain things as of now.Frankly it's ridiculous that they overlooked changing names after marriage. It's incredibly basic, and it shouldn't take more than a few lines of code.

My thoughts exactly. I love the things they did add, and the changes they made, but the name change and the fact that you can't fix the relationships bother me. But I'm optimistic, if it's something I can't fix within the game right now, I assume it'll be in the next update.

Have you tried:

4. Shift+Click your Sim and choose edit in CAS.

This can edit sims fully, including names. I imagine EA has a fix on the way for the marriage names thing, but in the meantime this workaround fixed it for me and my simmies. :3

It'd be better if they let you choose. I'm more on the traditional side, but there are lots of people who choose to forego the patrilineal naming. :P

At least you can change your name in city hall back in TS3. :D

In sims3 we have a dialogue box to choose the new name for the new couple (household) and if the other member of this couple wanted to keep its name, hope they fix the TS4 bug in that direction

Even without a cityhall, it wouldn't take much effort to add an option to the computer to "Apply for a Name Change" for marriage or any other reason.

I was able to change relationships by this method, as well as names and anything else. As far as nieces and nephews go, I don't know if those options are available on the drop-down or not, as I was only looking at relationships between adults.

There's my issue, the derived relationships have changed and I have no idea how to change them back. It's either greyed out with "cannot edit pre existing sims" or if I CAN change it it's only to Roommate or Brother or Sister
