The patriarch of my vampire family cloned a paparazzi he was interested in, and raised her clone to be his loyal wife and sireling. At the time I'd used a mod that allowed for the age of the clone to be chosen, but honestly you could get away with using a trait potion from the reward store to change one trait per major shift in values or major life events, if you so chose.
Before the aforementioned, one of my simselves cloned himself a wife, too (then there was a whole thing about killing his wife's original, because she was bent on ruining their relationship and outing him for his unethical creation).
One of my current storylines has a scientist live his life, then clone himself just before elderhood, that way he could carry on his legacy and explore other facets of life through his clone.
There's so much you can do with clones.
