Ah, perhaps I misunderstood the question. Yes, if all of the teen or older Sims in the household were to die from Rabid Rodent Fever, it'd be the same as if they died in any other way in the game. The child would be orphaned, and you'd get the Game Over message since there'd be nobody left to care for the child.
