If the controversial news were about the game itself, that would be much more anxiety inducing. Now that EA app forces us to periodically go online we cannot just ignore an update we don't like for months.
I think people are getting too hung up on the word controversial. "Controversial" was @ULIBABA66's choice of words, here on the forum, and while it's a reasonable interpretation of what SimMattically actually said ("cause discord"), it's not the only possible interpretation. "Discord" could just be a play on words with multiple possible interpretations, and it doesn't necessarily mean that anything will be controversial at all.
Nooo now I really do think it could be about the forums shutting down, now that would indeed be controversial...
