Cottage Living NPC's

Does anyone know if I move the Cottage Living NPC's into houses if they lose their functionality? Like if I move Lahina and Rahul Chopra into a house, is she still mayor and will he still deliver groceries? Will Kim Goldbloom still be a shopkeeper? Will the Crumplebottom sisters still do their thang? Curious
