I was checking for another thread and thought that what I found out, I would also post here. When my sim visited the Flea Market, there were 9 crystals for sale and each of them were half the cost of what you buy them for at the Crafting table. I am not sure if it is the same each time that you visit the Flea Market but they were that price when I last checked.

@rosemowYes I keep forgetting about that, even though I saw the reminder in the thread you mentioned. Objects vary with each visit but it's often crystals or metal. It can also be a handy place to locate any you have missing. I've seen Jonquilist and Rainborz there before for example and they can be hard to track down.
I've only just figured out you don't need to have them stocked in your inventory, you just need to have found them. I think I'm right in that they are free if you have some but you pay for them after you've run out. Someone correct me if that's wrong. I was avoiding using the Gold as I only had one left at first but now I'm using it but getting charged. As my Sim has opened a high end store now she's making more gold items.
I do not like the Blutonium ones! When designing random jewellery thats all she made! I don't like the Flamingonium ones either despite loving bright pink.
But I do love that there's almost a little in joke with the Eye themed items after years of Simmers cringing at the eyeball ring! It made me laugh when I saw them but I have to say the eye designs are actually really pretty and not at all like the abominable eyeball ring! 😂
Edit: seems that only some items can be purchased while making jewellery if they run out. Rare gems can't be though and need to be in the inventory. Such as Alexandrite and Rainborz.
