I'd use ambrosia as Maggiedoll suggested. Search the gallery in the "rooms" section, there are many downloads that hold just a single place of ready to go ambrosia (I keep one in my library for emergencies). Then after raising the ghost, the story could go that he keeled over and was in coma for some time, but has now returned to his family. That would be traumatic enough for a young family in my book, especially since the fear whether this will repeat will stay with them forever.
