Hmmm.. I might have misunderstood a few things on culling.
Just to make sure I understand it.
Question: Let's say that I start off with a sim that just died, there is a gravestone and their name on it. At the moment that sim takes one spot in the population. If I release the spirit, then I have the information in the family tree but they no longer count in the population nr.
If the child of that dead sim is culled then the sims above go away as well, but other than that I thought that the information would be safe then?
Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong (because I'm not positive about this), but don't Sims basically disappear forever once their spirits are released? Off of family trees and everything.
If this is true, maybe that's why the parents aren't showing up in the tree?
But again, I'm not positive about this. I've never personally released spirits before, just read about others doing it and their experiences.
They disappear in the sense that you cannot bring them back to life again with the book of life or something like that. But the information is still there in the family-tree  I have released the spirit of several sims and their information is still there.
I do this for townies when I know I won't be playing their household when they die and don't want to lose them in the tree.
