Describe the Moments When Your Real Life Resembles The Sims Game

This morning I had a real life Sims moment. I stepped into the shower and as I usually do, I turned the shower head to one side while I turned the faucet on its highest (hottest) setting. Only today, water started spewing out from just above the pipe where the shower head screws in. It's a hand held type of shower head. With water spewing all over, the flow from the shower head itself was greatly reduced. All I could think of, is this is a Sims moment. I have just become a Sim!

My Sims were busy very recently having to go about their entire two story house to fix the plumbing, be it leaky sink faucets, or showers or the toilet. Even the dishwasher broke and the stove went kablooey. They upset the Holiday Gnomes, you see. Happily, when I turned the heat down on the faucet, the flow from the top ceased. Yay. But still, there was that moment.

Please describe moments where the game inserted itself into your Real Life.

Don't know if this counts, but my husband and I use "moodlets" to explain our emotional state of mind to each other.

I get it. My wife, daughter, and I might occasionally say "Sul sul" and "Dag dag" to each other.

    How about...

    - Watching people argue in public and visualising red minus signs above their heads.
    - Hearing the uncomfortable moodlet jingle in my head when I have an allergic reaction.
    - Walking into someone else's home and thinking about how to rebuild it in Sims. (I'm not even a builder, mind you.)
    - Mistaking Olivia Newton-John for Nancy Landgraab on Glee.
    - Seeing a toddler act up in a high chair and reminding the mother that high chairs are buggy.
    - Imagining my own energy bar glowing red after a walk in the park. (While not officially diagnosed, I'm pretty sure I have some version of chronic fatigue syndrome.)

There's more... But I should get back to work now before my boss gets an angry moodlet that negatively impacts my job performance. :D

That makes me recall how quite some time ago, while I was scrubbing the toilet bowl, I imagined the skill meter above my head as I 'gained' skill in this task. LOL

I often get a bored moodlet at work and wish I had the option to sleep on the job. In fact, I wish I had a simray and could zap my boss :D

Oh lord, thanks for the good belly laugh! :D
  • Sometimes I feel like I have the City Living Gremlins lot trait selected on my house. Especially in the last year. My refrigerator and oven went out around the same time. We got those fixed/replaced and then my car's transmission started having problems. We still haven't fixed that yet.

    Bummer.
  • I had a similar situation to the original post. 2 months ago I was using a sink at home and I could tell the faucet cartridge was about to go. All of a sudden with the faucet in the off position, water started coming from the faucet and down the drain. (Play the broken object music). I had to shut off the sink from underneath the sink. Those following days were not fun until we replaced the part.

UPDATE: My hubby changed out the bad connection from the faucet to the shower head. All is well, now. :)
  • Sometimes all the sims in my family will be done with their daily tasks for school or work, be good enough on their needs, and I don't really have anything I care for them to do, so I just ignore them and let the game run so they can do whatever they want and I'll just keep an eye on it to put out figurative or literal fires.

That's my life most evenings. I don't have anything I really want to do, so I'll just putter around and accomplish nothing until I need to go to sleep.
  • Those times I really wish cheats existed on real life like in sims. Wanting to just open the command console to enter those cheats, Like using motherlode to have more money and buy anything I want no matter the price, or to max a skill effortlessly without having to spend that much time learning it, or to get the highest grade at school without having to study, lol :D
  • When I microwave something cold in the middle I have to laugh at that moodlet.
