I couldn't agree more! I really want more 'every day' careers, especially for my more handy/practical sim characters. Not all of my sims are meant to be academic types, techie, super rich and/or famous, so it would be nice to have more options for them. I often have to prevent my sims from being promoted in their careers for this reason. I was pleased when part-time jobs were made available for adults, but I would like to see more full-time options and NPC careers available for played sims. One of my sims would be a great repairman, builder or mechanic so I'm really hoping one or ideally all of these careers are added. I'm not particularly fussed about a University EP, but if it came with study from home and practical as well as academic course options then I will be very happy. I would also love to see hotel venues come with hotel assistant and manager career options.
