Do you create stock characters / custom NPCs/"townies"?

Over the years I've made a habit of saving Sims and households I like to my library, and then dropping them into other save games as background characters. I made a version of the Pleasants, for instance (with Angela and Lilith as children), a character from a NaNo book I wrote a few years back, my self-sim and a few of my friends, the advisors from SimCity 3000, etc. I don't put everyone in every save, but I like having certain ones always around. Does anyone else do anything like this?

  • Hmmm... MCCC population mod didn't work well for me.

It certainly pulled the sims from my library, but only random individuals rather than whole households. It also changed their outfits to random clothing for some reason and occasionally changed the age of a sim. Not sure why it did that because I had added all ages to my library. Also, it was assigning them to random jobs even though I had given them all specific careers.

I decided to remove that particular module because that wasn't what I was expecting or wanting.

I have now added all of those households (about 80 households containing over 200 sims) into my game save as homeless sims and the game is actually using them in their own careers and clothes and populating community lots with them. It was a lot of work to add them all in but I'm pretty pleased with how it is going so far. I just need to rotate to a scientist, doctor or detective to see if it pulls the correct sims out for active careers.
