@Midevil_ChaosI lost a Dell laptop which wasn't old at the time and had been used by my friend who is also a gamer, but he plays mostly things like COD type games. It lasted about 6 months with Sims 3 base game. I got a brand new Acer too which also didn't last long although the particular one I got wasn't as powerful as the Dell. At the time I wish I'd talked specs in the computer repair shop but despite working with computers for years, including building intranet pages and databases I had one of those "girl being made to feel clueless moments" in the store lol. All my tech knowledge left my head for some reason 🤦.
That's one of the great things about this forum. Anyone in that situation now that knows about us can just ask and immediately get someone to give great and detailed advice and point them in the right direction.

To be fair, it's hard to get an actual good laptop. My gaming laptop (which I use as a backup only) is good, sure, but not amazingly powerful. Real gaming good laptops cost so much money, that I can't blame anyone for purchasing something worth "only" a grand or so.
You work(ed) in the tech industry? You have officially become my favourite "Simster" (or however you wanna put it)! That and the fact that you actually know the band The Verve. I love tech, and when you think you know something, there is always something else that tells you otherwise lol. The things I learn that are insanely obscure or you really gotta see it to believe it type of thing? lol. But at least with tech, it's always fun things. Coding though can change (especially by Google with Angular), and can be tricky. Seems like you worked with backend stuff, at least with the DBs. I think I probably worked with MySQL back in the day (I know there were types of DBs as well that you could use via the web host, but I forgot what they were called). Hard stuff lol.
- simsplayer8183 years agoHero@Midevil_Chaos I worked in government but used a lot of tech at the time. I used to do our intranet pages, computerized payroll and invoicing, external advertising, user registration ID and stuff like that and I used a lot of Microsoft tools. I used to like to computerize everything because that building was full of dusty paperwork lol. We used to get Microsoft courses on offer all the time and I'd be there. I studied it at college too and once had to step in for the lecturer because he'd never used the database software. I think that's why I chose Xbox. It's the only Microsoft thing I use now because I'm on Android for everything else. But I'll always love Microsoft, ah the memories lol! I can't remember half of it now and I definitely can't remember the coding I learned either. But I just found all my certificates the other day in an old binder in my shed!

I know what you mean. I once had a boat load of papers and was like: "why?" So I spent several days getting rid of what I didn't need/want. As for the rest, I did keep them because they were video game related like maps in games and it was easier to simply keep those as such. Otherwise, I actually transcribed a lot of what I had before from journals etc. It's quite something seeing something and the next day... it becomes obsolete or a nuisance. I still have Word 98 somewhere XD If it wasn't for the fact that it doesn't have modern fonts which are easy to read, it'd still be my fav one out there. Out of curiosity, what were your certificates about?
Exactly! You get it :D I will never touch an Apple product, even with a 10 inch poll. At least with Microsoft, you can mod it, both hardware and software based. With an Mac? Forget it, you void your warranty if you go near the hardware. As for Android phones, you actually have different UIs, depending on the phone manufacturer. I've used several brands, and LG is, imo, the best brand out there. It's a shame that they decided to stop making phones. I tried other phones, and it's not the same. I basically end up downloading a launcher so I can use that phone and get close to I can get to an LG experience. The LG Velvet? Man, it may be an older phone at this point in comparison to newer phones... but the specs? Pretty much on par still! There is something to say about LG's legacy in terms of products. - Missie_Kate3 years agoSeasoned Hotshot
@Midevil_Chaos Also yes! LG products are great. Our Fridge freezer and TV are from LG, And they're both over 5 years old. I think they have amazing, quality products. not cheap, although worth it for the quality. 😊 Plus on The Verve subject, I also like some of their music. In particular 'when the drugs don't work'. But the some of the lyrics specifically "like a cat in a bag..." always depresses me, even though musically it's a very pretty song. (●ˇ∀ˇ●)

@Mrs_K_Desormeaux
The only ones I've owned for LG were phones. If you look at tvs though, Samsungs are great for those as long as you select the premium ones. I mean, the other ones are good too, but premium Samsung tvs are so damn amazing. Where I'm at, we may have Samsung dishwasher I think (furnished with the place). I am sure LG makes a better dishwasher than Samsung lol. I'd be curious to test out an LG for dishwashers and the washing/drying machines.I am not familiar with that specific song. I just read the lyrics. I don't even know what to say about 'em lol.
- simsplayer8183 years agoHero@Midevil_Chaos My certificates are for all my old IT/Microsoft Courses. Local government loves it's training courses.
I think this may be why my Sims are mostly self employed lol. Less training and more doing. Mind you, I never let them have time off and give them moodlet solvers to keep them working. So I'm a harsh employer/creator. - Midevil_Chaos3 years agoSeasoned Veteran
@simsplayer818
Cool 🙂 Glad to hear that. It's great having as many as you can have :D
