Do you think ask to just be friends should clear an npc from your romantic interest tab?

Most of my unwanted relationships came from pre update pansexual conversations that occurred outside of my control in game. I would like a simple way to clear the list without purging sims, re-adding them or using a cheat function to do so.

Thoughts? Should this be a base game interaction?
