I feel like you can get bored if you always play the same way. That's what I caught myself doing and then I started "researching" and finding different scenarios/challenges to try out. Rags to riches, legacy, 100 babies, etc.
And I think my play-style helps. I'm a binge-player, so I'll go for months not touching the game and then it'll be all I play for weeks. It gives my brain a break and I can come back when I'm feeling it.
