I'm too scared to plant it because I'm scared he'll get hysterical while it's growing and I wont be able to save him lol
Though I fortunately haven't had any sims die yet, I have had an increase in my sims becoming hysterical lately, as mentioned above many of us have noticed this happening more since the new patch. The problem is anything that gives your sim a happy buff will amplify a playful buff, and even if you just have one thing causing your sim to be playful (such as the goofball trait, or watching the comedy channel), if there's a lot of buffs also making the sim happy (which tends to happen with simmers who conscientiously try to keep their sims happy), it puts them into hysteria territory. Which is of course pretty ridiculous. I have always had time to get them to a mirror to calm down though, so not sure why it would happen so fast in your game.
Another thing you could do, if you have more than one sim in your household, is plant some death flowers, so if one of them does meet an untimely end, another sim can revive them by giving Grim a death flower. With the increase in hysteria lately, I have been super vigilant about making sure everyone in the house has a death flower right now (even the toddlers, lol).
