Earning Fame

I've had my sims build up their fame by doing any of the interactions that have a fame boost to it. It just getting to that first-star level is tricky.

But what are the other fame interactions that don't use technology, other than painting? I've remembered this morning that there's the microphone and being able to purchase a round of drinks for a group. I don't know any more.

Publishing books gets your fame up fast.

Well... I'm not sure if you'll consider the guitar to be technology, but I think a pirate with a guitar is pretty cool.

Music instruments in general gives you fame points however.

You can also click on your sim and practice singing. This also increases fame.

Neither of these increases fame by a lot though, but it works...

I use singing for a fame boost, as was already mentioned. I also currently have an astronaut that is climbing the fame ladder and therefore I know that every trip into space with the rocket also increases fame.

I've been writing songs out in public then publishing those songs when my Sim returns home. That way I get the fame from both. (Though I learned that while a skilled child can write music on the violin or piano, they can't publish it until they get older.)

In the political career, protesting for a cause gets you fame. (You can also join a protest, even if you're not in the career.)

At level 3 with a good reputation, you can get a perk that lets you donate household items. The Sim I was trying to get famous was very wealthy, so she donated a bunch of virtuoso violins to build her fame up.

That's all I've discovered so far. I'm sure there's plenty more.

Oh, cool! Thanks for the info. My Sim built a rocket for the Nerd Brain aspiration but never uses it. I think she will now. ^_^

@Mariefoxprice83 Sorry, I should have read your post a little more carefully. I suspect your criminal pirate would not be much into donating items. But there is a perk for those with a negative reputation where they get fame for being mean or mischievous in public. I haven't tried it yet so can't say how effective it is. That's the one I'm going for now. My soon-to-be-infamous Sim is still in grade school so I'm trying to get her up to level 2 before her teen years.

As an aside, I now want to make a klepto Sim who goes around stealing expensive items without getting caught only to donate them and build a pristine reputation around it.

Thanks all for yoiur help. I've just finished building a pub for my pirate and his gang to hang out in so I can use the microphone and instruments I placed there. and hopefully in time my guy can build a reputation for being nasty. Fingers crossed!

One thing I noticed that's a real shame is that the pipe organ doesn't give fame points. I hope the gurus can change this in a patch one day.
