Just so happens i created a family a few days ago and it is a bit of a mess, all of it because a husband cheated on his wife, neither of them willing to be the one to give in and take the hit on raising their children after a divorce settlement, the whole thing blew up in such a spectacular fashion that the teenaged daughter took her toddler brother and raised him by herself, even going as far to cancel school so she can look after the boy full time. The boy is clingy and prefers to be with his sister at all times. I was in the middle of playing that run out, the boy already has level 5 on everything except potty which is at level 3.
It would be nice if the aspirations take into account the care dependency option since those indidivual sims looking after those toddlers are in effect like a parent anyway, and just because it isn't written down anywhere officially, don't make it any less true.
i have that option and don't have the Parental GP, but i'd like to get it if it came on sale.

It would be nice if the "Adopt as Care Dependent" / or "Adopt as Caregiver" interactions (which I think are from Parenthood GP - I have never raised families without it) would allow exactly that. I have some similar set-ups of non-traditional family.
