Farming?

Is there ever going to be a farming style expansion pack like in TS3?

  • I'm one of those who wants a farming GP with a good farm management system, with horses, chicken and cows.

I DO NOT want horses in a farming pack. They will not be very well done and a huge disappointment. There are so many other ways to make horses fun in their own pack and I would hate for our one shot at horses be nerfed by shoving then in a farm pack.

Plus, in a separate pack, we get more farm stuff like crafting and canning and other farm related things.

Animals are the best part of this world I bet they can be the best part in the Sims 4 too.

  • Animals are my main interest in a farming pack, so I hope they do right by them. Not just keeping them for item drops, but being able to bond with them. We can bond with bees and dolphins, it would be great to see a version of that. Being nice to them and taking care of their needs will improve the quality of their offerings, while ignoring them will cause them to get sick, stop producing and possibly even die.

Bonus if we can get animal competitions, like comparing hog sizes at a county fair.
  • I think we'll get animals, but it'll be very much in the vein of the bug farms in Eco Living. You buy a CAS item, a sty or pen or something, and you can choose what animals to raise in it for a price, and then you get an animation of those animals in there, but you can't interact with them individually.

Then you can click on the item to refill food, water, etc, maybe 'Check for Illness', and then if you want to milk or shear things, you get an animation like when you nuture a bug in your bug farm, with that specific type of animal, but that's it. Probably also with a meter to show the health/happiness of the animals in the pen, which will go up or down depending on how you treat them. That's not quite as good as having animals roaming around, but I can't see how else they can do it, without adding specific animals to the household like cats and dogs, or just having animal animations roaming all around the lot. I assume it's those models and animations that are making the pack take a while, but personally I don't expect specific individual animals roaming around (much as I would like that).

    I'd love a framing pack for TS4.

I'd love to have a chicken choop to collect eggs and cows to have milk. Maybe pigs which "give" meat would be fun too. A farmer's market where our famrer Sims can sell their goods would be great to have as well. New stuff for gardening and more things to do with what our Sims harvest. Making jams and preserves, making nectars of different qualities. Not to forget the addition of nice rural CAS and B/B items.

Keeping in mind that Cats and Dogs actively play a part in your household, thinking for themselves as pets, that took a lot of work. Farming animals - chickens, cows, sheep - don't need to be as smart, and can be a bit of a hive mind.
  • Mostly I want a way to make stuff like milk and eggs to sell in a grocery store with gtw
