Fire beneath roof cannot be extinguished

A fire notification came on. I could not find any fire on the lot even though I could hear it. I wanted to go to the main menu but I couldn't save the game because I would lose what I had played. Ultimately I did save and lost my progress,
Then I played the same home. After a while the same notification came. When I looked all around the lot to see where the fire was, I found it was in the area where the dormers are, just underneath the actual roof. The fireman even came but they couldn't reach it. The fire is still going on. It has been one sim day and night. The option to save the game is greyed out.
What should I do?. This is getting annoying now.
