This happened at least twice a day, when I recently had a family on vacation. I am hoping for a patch to fix it, so that it happens more rarely.
I tend to get a camp fire from the lot the Sims on that has no lodging and have them use a tend. Never fails on the first day there's a fire though (i don't out chairs around the camp fire either) the ones outside the lot don't seem to. Had an odd glitch where my dim couldn't put out the fire so I just let it burn out and they panicked still after routing to safety.
Mine finally ignored the fire and just messed around on her phone. :/
