First Time Canning

I've yet to have a Sim do any canning, but today, I noticed Kayleigh had several springs of raspberries in her Inventory. So, I decided she should do some canning. I click the fridge, I select canning, then I select raspberries from the menu. So, she stands there for ages, as if she can't figure out what to do. Then she gets out her trusty French knife and starts chopping away. As she takes the cutting board over to the stove, I notice she has wedges of watermelon. Say, what? Not only that, but after i paused to take the screenshot, her head kept turning toward the camera with a small glint in her eyes. LOL What are you up to, Kayleigh? I'll post the picture later, I'm still playing my game.

Is this normal for canning?

I love the canning feature. So simple yet so cozy especially against a farm backdrop. I was just doing canning the other day with my Sim with high cooking skill and I was shocked at how much faster he did it than my lower level cooking sims. I suppose the skill is tied to the speed of canning if that is your question that I'm understanding correctly. Enjoy your game! :)
  • Even when they make a garden salad, there's watermelons on the chopping tray. Yes it's normal. That's the animation for chopping vegetables and for mushroom canning.
  • The cooking animations in Sims4 are notoriously lazy and bad. The attention to detail in Sims2 blows it away.

But I had to share a funny: I really need to look at getting some glasses due to recent farsightedness such that the title of your post read to my poor vision as "First Time Caning" and I was all "WOT?!" ?
  • @ignominiusrex Thank you for my Morning Chuckle. I suffer from astigmatism (which has gotten far worse), plus near-sightedness, plus just being old. Oi! You know you're in trouble when you have to zoom the page in passed 100%, which is default on my computer.

Thank you! I feel ever so much better about it, now. I love me the raspberries. Watermelon, not so much. :open_mouth:
  • No, actually, I was concerned that she had watermelon wedges on her cutting board when she was canning raspberries. Is that normal?
