Flirting Not Working HELP

I am *desperately* trying to get two teen sims together before prom. It hasn't been going well. My sim, the girl, tries flirting with the guy, and they both get embarrassed. I've tried several things, but none of them have worked. My latest attempt: cheated to get their friendship level up, also to get both of them Very Flirty. I used THE MOST BASIC "flirt" option and STILL EMBARRASSED! It shouldn't be this hard! Any tips?

    It is kind of cute and teen-like you must admit, they both like each other but can't manage to flirt well :)

    Do they have at least a couple points of charisma skill? That plays a role in interactions of all kinds going over well. The more charisma, the more likely success.

    Is he nonflirty? The embarrassment is tough to overcome with nonflirty sims.

    do you have GrT? does he possibly have dislike for flirtation? or any of the related social stuff?

    I meant to say this the other day - have you tried turning it off and back on again?
